Shouyou-sensei is Shouyou-sensei.Shouyou-sensei is not him.Shouyou-sensei is lost,he is a wanderer as he has admitted.A respectable and charismatic wanderer,helps young wanderers how to wander.People have more freedom than they think is what he has said,so it’s fine to wander to find what we truly want. Shouyou-sensei is the head of Shoka Sonjuku,who has given Gintoki,Katsura,Takasugi with other children education,childhood and even dreams to fight for.Just like Shoka Sonjuku’s students,I am captivated by Shouyou sensei’s philosophy.Sensei taught me that one could become samurai of one’s own idea.Sensei taught me that bushido is the will to become one’s stronger self and follow one’s sense of beauty.(Lesson 517,manga) Those words have touched my soul.The coward that once feared many things,now will learn to accept weaknesses and go ahead. Gintama is a jack-of-all-trade manga/anime,as can be seen by unique and smooth combination of comedy,tragedy and action.Having a chance to see such a masterpiece,I feel the need to express my gratitude to Hideaki Sorachi-sensei,manga assistants and anime staff ( and many more ) who have brought this work of art to life.Īs expected from the genius mangaka Sorachi-sensei,each of the characters he has created in Gintama has their own meanings to readers.For me,the one that has the strongest impact on me is Shouyou-sensei.
